My Therapy Style
My therapy style utilizes a combination of listening and observation. As a therapist, I will endeavour to enable you to feel as comfortable as possible. I will always create a therapy environment where you can speak openly. You can be confident that I will always understand your point of view and never judge you.
Emotional self-honesty is very important if therapy and EFT are to work efficiently. I will help you to locate the source of your stress and depression and using EFT remove their effect on you.
My therapy approach is based on intuition and observation; be it of body language and facial expression, or if we are having a telephone counselling session, the subtle tones of your voice. Using my natural intuition and sensitivity, I will tune into your answers to my questions and also into your feelings about what you’re telling me.
I then select the most suitable counselling approach for your unique situation, which will bring the quickest relief for the stress and depression you are experiencing.
The Therapy Process
Depression is a multi-layered problem and usually stems from a number of different aspects or root causes. During our therapy sessions, I will ask gentle questions, and help you isolate the different feelings/aspects of your depression.
Should you be comfortable voicing one of these feelings/aspects, we can then progressively work through it, using EFT, until the emotions attached to it are cleared.
However, should one of these aspects cause you extreme pain and/or you are not comfortable telling me about it, then there are various ways we can approach it without you ever having to voice exactly what it is.
To begin with, you can give the aspect of your problem a name, something which you connect with it, but which doesn’t tell me anything. We can then use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to clear the emotions surrounding this aspect of your depression using the name given to it by you. As long as you are thinking about the aspect when we do the tapping round, I never need to be told what it is you’re thinking about. This is the wonderful way in which EFT works.
My goal is to emotionally support you through counselling while you become the person you were meant to be and show you how to clear these negative thoughts and feelings that are causing your depression so that you can reclaim your life from the dark pit called depression.
